A wind blew down from the ridge and awoke me from a pleasant dream. A child (mine) lay tucked in beside me much to my surprise. I thought to myself what a great gift to find your very own little love had snuck in sometime during the night to make sure that you had cuddle as soon as you woke on mother's day. Seven years have gone by since I first met this child. She astounds me, makes me laugh, makes me crazy, and makes me proud on a daily basis. I am so blessed to be her mom and so proud of the little person I am raising. She keeps me on my toes and reminds me to breath when I think I have forgotten how. She is so much more than I ever imagined and I love how she pushes me to be a better person everyday.
She asked me when she woke up how exactly this mother's day works? "Do you open presents in the morning like Christmas or later in the day like your birthday?" I stopped at that and said, that it really is more of a whenever it feels right kind of thing, but after breakfast sounded good to me. She thought this sounded great and so teasing her I asked what she intended to make me since mother's don't have to cook today. She stopped short and said, "Well if I am going to cook we are gonna have to have cereal since that's the only thing I can make" (I heard here mumble that she had better learn to cook before next year). I really love that she took it all in stride even when I threw the food curve ball at her. We did end up having cheerios with bananas but we made them together which is just as it should be. After that it was time for presents and boy oh boy was she excited. I was told to close my eyes and get ready while she went to get them. Here's the list...
Big Terra Cotta Flower Pot decorated by the artist herself
A handmade yellow tissue flower sprayed with perfume and sporting a butterfly
A small terra cotta pot that she hand painted ladybugs on and filled with a red flower
